    Blame the Victim

    An apt phrase for this story from CNN titled Refused kiss costs girl, 15, her life. I don't think I can write a better commentary than this from a friend of mine:

    And if she hadn't "refused" everything would have been ok? This coverage is appalling. And the article portrays the events like it's this mystifying exception, a freak accident. Like there's no connection between his stalking and eventually killing her. It's like this was written in the fifties - blaming women for being murdered by rapists because they fought back. She said no and he killed her, or she could have said yes and been killed later.

    Pardon me while I go puke and sob.

    How about: "Man murders young woman" "Crazed Stalker murders young woman" or even "Man murders teenager."

    They could focus on who to actually blame for this.
