50 American Revolutions You're Not Supposed to Know
Disinformation is an excellent publisher. I have yet to find one of their books I haven't liked. I've read about 10 or so of their books. Currently I'm reading 50 American Revolutions You're Not Supposed to Know: Reclaiming American Patriotism by Mickey Z. (New York: Disinformation, 2005). This is a sort of series by Disinformation with titles like "50 [blank] You're Not Suppose to Know." Some of them are small and under $10US.
Mickey Z., a political writer who also has a blog called Cool Observer, has written 50 short entries for various acts of rebellion in the US. Some items are in the same category as the American revolution (i.e., political and military), others are more social revolutions. You won't get a full story from the individual chapters since the entries are rarely longer than 3 pages but you will get the gist of the events. Sources are included in the back.
Between each item is a small timeline of several important events usually related to the next full item/chapter.
This isn't a complicated book. It's not meant to be a deep read. Most people should be able to read it in under two hours. As an overview of large and small acts of American rebellion though, it is well worth reading.
If you go through Mickey Z.'s blog to buy it, I assume he gets a bit of extra kickback for clickthough but it's to Amazon Books which I try to avoid when possible for various political and economic reasons.
